Tampines Vs Gombak

Tampines is up against the exciting youngsters, Gombak in their 3rd encounter this season, having beaten them marginally both times (2-1, 1-0).

Wouldn't underestimate Gombak, who would be licking their wounds (and pride) to lose the third time. Last season saw similar scorelines (2-1 and 1-0) with an exciting 3-3 played out on the third. This team, with hardworking Nigerian players in Obadin Aikhena, Gabriel Obatola, who incidentally contributed to two of the three goals in May 2006; plus an ever improving Emmanuel Emuejeraye (yes, in the same family as Precious Emuejeraye, our localised national player. In fact, they even had a Nigerian youth international in Alfred Emuejeraye in the family, who played for Gombak for a couple of months last season), should give Tampines a run of their $$, especially since they've lost a few players to the national team for the Tajikistan return leg; namely Noh Alam Shah and Mustafic Fahrudin, as well as defensive linchpin Nazri Nasir to suspension.

Tampines, better known as "dad's army", due to the team having the highest average age in the S-league, will not have it easy if they wish to keep pace with leader SAFFC and Home United, on 75 and 74 points respectively. They will need to win this to bring their tally to 73 points, hauling themselves back into contention for the title, with two games to run. They have the easiest run-in (away to Sengkang and home to Albirex) compared to SAFFC (away to Home Utd, home to Gombak) and Home Utd's (home to SAFFC, away to Geylang), which should be some motivation for them to nick this one. All will rest on Mirko Grobavac and Peres Oliveira to deliver the goods, with the two industrious Thais, Sutee Suksomkit and Santi Chaiyaphuak, providing the necessary cross-ins.

So, sit back, relax, and hopefully watch them churn out another nail-biting exchange of goals galore!

But from a punting point of view, sleague payouts generally far higher than european leagues, averaging $10 for score bets against $6 for others...........
