Key players in a key match
Both VfL Wolfsburg and FC Bayern M¨šnchen have several outstanding individual players. Stars who can decide a match on their own.

The German record champions from Munich seem to have a slight advantage in defence, but the "Wolves" dominate up front.

The goalkeepers: even

Michael Rensing and Diego Benaglio were the best goalkeepers in 2007/08. Rensing kept out 91.4% of all shots on target, Benaglio parried 79.5%. Both are struggling to match that form this season, however: Benaglio's record is 66.7%, Rensing's just 63.1%. The Bayern keeper has parried 53 shots, 37 of those from outside the box. He has kept out only 39% of shots from close range - less than any other regular Bundesliga keeper. Benaglio has already kept eight clean sheets, the second-best record in the Bundesliga.

The central defenders: advantage Bayern

Bayern's Lucio is the Bundesliga's strongest central defender: he has won 76% of all challenges. That's 14% better than Andrea Barzagli, and Lucio also likes to go forward a lot more than the Italian. Lucio had more shots at goal (26-3), more crosses (13-0) and won 93% of his dribblings. Lucio also has twice as many touches as Barzagli and has cleared 146 balls in the box.

The holding midfielders: advantage Bayern

Wolfsburg's Josue and Bayern's Mark van Bommel are almost level in terms of defensive strengths. Josue has won 58% of his challenges, van Bommel follows closely with 56%. The Wolfsburger (71) has committed more fouls than the Dutchman (45), who has 30 touches more than the Brazilian per 90 minutes. Josue went for goal just twice this season, van Bommel already 26 times (one goal).

The creative players: level

14 assists make Zvjezdan Misimovic the Bundesliga's best provider.
Franck Ribery has just four to his name, but he has had more shots at goal (51-42) and more goals (6-5) although he has played considerably less games. The Frenchman has 99 touches per 90 minutes and is way more active than the Bosnian (69). Ribery also makes more dribblings (109-47), while Misimovic puts in more crosses from the wing (116-81).

The strikers: advantage Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg's Grafite is the Bundesliga's most efficient striker, having scored with 45% of his non-blocked shots. Luca Toni, on the other hand, goes for goal more often than any other player (every 18 minutes). Both players have been on the pitch for almost the same time, but Grafite (18) has scored twice as many goals as Toni (9) - with less shots! Both players have also set up three goals, and Toni has been more efficient in that regard: he set up eleven shots, Grafite needed 20 for three assists.

Here is the summary of what is going on in the last match:

Champions League Battle

FC Inter ...... Already Italy's Champions!
AC Milan ---- Battling to keep the 2nd position against Juventus
FC Juventus ..Wants to take away the 2nd position from AC Milan
Fiorentina - Want to cause an upset and beat Milan.

Team
AC Milan
Games 37 Win 21 Draw 8 Lost 8 Points 71 GF 68 GA 35 GD 33

Juventus
Games 37 Win 20 Draw 11 Lost 6 Points 71 GF 67 GA 37 GD 30

Fiorentina
Games 37 Win 21 Draw 5 Lost 11 Points 68 GF 53 GA 36 GD 17

If Fiorentina beat Milan and Lazio beat Juventus, goal difference determining the 2nd position between Milan and Juventus for the direct qualification of the Champions League.

UEFA Cup

Genoa
AS Roma

Salvation Battle

Bologna .......fighting for salvation
Torino .......... fighting for salvation
Lecce ..... ....relegated to the Serie B
Reggina.......relegated to the Serie B

Only 3 teams are relegated. Two already relegated "Lecce and Reggina." Now, the battle for survival is between Bologna and Torino both having 34 points. Bologna plays at home against Catania while Torino play the away game against Roma in the Olimpico.
Whoever lose is out!

FIORENTINA - AC MILAN
Artemio Franchi Stadium
2008 - 2009 Serie A Standing
- AC Milan 2nd position, 71 points
- Fiorentina 4th position, 68 points

Here is the real bloody battle to get the direct qualification for the UEFA Champions League next year. AC Milan have 3 points more than Firoentina but the same 71 points like Juventus.

Constant rumors about the sacking of AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti if losing this match are increasing. Guys, AC Milan cannot lose this game as it is the better way to say "Thank You to Captain Paolo Maldini" playing his last game .... Already Milan blew it by losing Maldini's last game in San Siro last Sunday against Roma.

I like the words from Fiorentina midfielder Juan Manuel Vargas towards Maldini "Maldini? In Italy he's an idol, he's known all over the world. For me he is a great professional, playing against him has always been my dream, it will be fantastic to face him in the last game of his career." Thumbs up for Vargas!

Irony, it is ex AC Milan forward Alberto Gilardino to welcome his ex tream with the mission to win the match for Fiorentina. Gilardino who has found his way to goal with Fiorentina will love to show a tough lesson to AC Milan. Wow, can you imagine Gilardino blasting Milan and shattering the good bye from Maldini? wow!!! Gilardino has scored 19 goals this season while AC Milan forward Kaka scoring only 15 goals, Pato 14, and Filippo Inzaghi 13 goals.

Bad news for Fiorentina is the suspension of Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo for 2 games and Dario Dainelli suspended for 1 game! Though, AC Milan also have 1 suspended player midfielder Massimo Ambrosini.

Oh my gosh, based on the statistics everything is in favor of Fiorentina winning their last 4 home games!

Predict : AC Milan

BOLOGNA - CATANIA
Renato Dall'Ara Stadium
2008 - 2009 Serie A Standing
- Bologna 17th position, 34 points
- Catania 14th position, 43 points

Match for SALVATION for Bologna, no more "IF". Is either win or back to relegation, period.

wow, guys, it will be a big blow if Bologna lose this match considering they have the top scorer of the Italian Serie A forward Marco Di Vaio with 23 goals same as with FC Inter forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Bologna must play the "match of their life" in front of their fans to remain in Serie A. Bologna and Torino are the two remaining in the battle for relegation having 34 points each.

Predict : Bologna

FC JUVENTUS - LAZIO
Olimpico di Torino Stadium
2008 - 2009 Serie A Standing
- FC Juventus 3rd position, 71 points
- Lazio 10th position, 50 points

It's the second test for new Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara. Guys, Ciro made his debut with a victory thanks to the brilliant performance and leadership of Alessandro Del Piero scoring and making assist. The battle is tough because it will decide whether Juventus ends in 2 or 3 place for a direct qualification for the UEFA Champions League next year.

Juventus have the chance to end the season with a victory in front of their fans, though Lazio won't go to the Olimpico to concede the match. You bet Lazio will play their best game to end in a positive light the season after the fans keep contesting the management and the team.

Predict : Juventus

PALERMO - SAMPDORIA
Renzo Barbera Stadium
2008 - 2009 Serie A Standing
- Palermo 7th position, 56 points
- Sampdoria 12th position, 45 points

Is this a formality match? Well, Palermo already out of the race for a spot in the UEFA Cup and Sampdoria without chances to be in any European competition. Wow, amazing, guys! Palermo is in a better standing than Sampdoria! Wow... hey, there must be a party going on in Palermo to celebrate this great ending of the season.

Yet, there is also the rumor that it might be the last match from Palermo coach Palermo Ballardini. OH well... let's hope for the best.

Sampdoria will try to pull a victory at the Barbera and will rely on their dynamic duo forwards Giampaolo Pazzini and Antonio Cassano. By the way, Cassano is the best "Assist Man" from the match: 77 assist with 10 winners ending in goals. Second assist man of the match is Fabio Liverani with 61 assist and 7 ending with goals. Though Liverani is not playing for injury. Next "assist man for Palermo" are Simplicio with 58 and Miccoli with 51 assist and just 1 ending in goal. So..there is a chance that Sampdoria might upset Palermo and take home the 3 points.

Palermo without forward Edison Cavani for injury will put their hope on the usual Fabrizio Miccoli. Guys, at least Miccoli has a better goal record this season with 13 goals while Cassano has scored 12 and Pazzini 11. Plus Miccoli extending his contract until 2012 will inspire him to be a scorer machine!. Another good news is that fans will be paying only 5 euros in the Curva!!!! Defender Kjaer is also back!

Predict : Draw

AS ROMA - TORINO
Olimpico di Roma Stadium
2008 - 2009 Serie A Standing
- AS Roma 6th position, 60 points
- Torino 18th position, 34 points

Roma have nothing to lose but a lot to gain if winning this match. Roma already qualified for the UEFA Cup so no pressure. The pressure is for Torino going to the Olimpico with 7 suspended players!!!!! OUCH! Yep! After Sporting Judge suspended 7 players for the fight after the match against Genoa on Sunday, May 24, Torino is rushing to drive the "fast lane" for relegation.

The battle for salvation is between Bologna and Torino... so, if you are a Torino fan, start praying for A HUGE MIRACLE.

On paper the Roman gladitaors are the favorites with 3 wins in the last 4 home games while Torino have only 1 win and 3 lost in their last 4 away games!

Predict : AS Roma
